About

The Whitechapel presents Sarah Morris' tribute to legendary Hollywood writer, director and actor Robert Towne for the first time in the UK. The film is an intimate portrait of the man famous for his work on films including Shampoo, Bonnie and Clyde and The Godfather, and his Oscar-winning Chinatown. American artist Sarah Morris' in-depth interview with Robert Towne gets to the man behind the films, which are marked by themes of moral ambiguity and corruption. She broaches subjects such as paranoia, corruption and power as well as revealing details of his relationships with Warren Beatty and other co-stars and colleagues in this revealing documentary on the man Morris describes as 'an elliptical figure'.
