About

In her solo exhibition, the artist Sarah Ancelle Schönfeld presents a new experimental photo series. By sprinkling hormones or the body's own substances such as breast milk and pharmacological substances such as the contraceptive pill onto exposed photo negatives, forms are created whose aesthetic quality is fascinating. The selection of substances and medications clearly shows Schönfeld's engagement with the complex issue surrounding the control mechanisms of female reproduction. By transferring processes that take place inside the body into a pictorial form, the artist creates an aesthetic approach to this debate.

In the run-up to the exhibition, the artistic works will be the subject of an intellectual-artistic discussion in which Dr. Jeannie Moser (literary and cultural scientist), Prof. Dr. Christina Vagt (media scientist), Ashkan Sepahvand (artist), Prof. Dr. Esther Leslie (political aesthetics) and Dr. Dehlia Hannah (philosopher of science) will participate.
