Laura Cannell's music is a testament to the power of solo performance. Using traditional resources - fiddle and recorders - she performs highly dynamic semi-composed, semi-improvised pieces which explore the spaces between the ancient and experimental. An open-hearted approach to her practise gives her music a feeling of great freedom, always underpinned by her deeply intuitive sense of melodic gesture.
Leafcutter John is an acclaimed acoustic musician and artist, making work that is inspired by two strands: computer music and folk music. His conscientious approach to hand-building much of the technology he uses in his music-making has made him a pioneering spirit in the field.
