LOOCK is pleased to present ‘Reproduktion’ by Rudolf Schäfer – 37 years after it was first exhibited.

About

In the aftermath of the initial show at Galerie Sophienstraße 8 in 1984, Schäfer became a central figure of the photography scene and was widely received, not only within the German Democratic Republic but also internationally. Schäfers imagery offers a subtle yet engaging analysis of East German society. Because the 44 images have not been shown in their entirety since 1984, the upcoming exhibition at LOOCK is also an attempt of reconstructing German photographic history.
