Join Royal Drawing School alumnus, artist Tim Betjeman, for a drawing workshop against a backdrop of our current exhibition 'Drawn from the Fleming Collection', which features recent work by Betjeman. Guided by the artist you will explore various drawing techniques and learn how to use charcoal and pencil.
Drawing from the masters gives a unique insight into the mind of the artist who created that work. The decisions, difficulties and solutions contributing to the formation of a composition can be retrieved through drawing in a way that cannot be accomplished through observation with the eye alone. As with playing through a piece of music on the instrument it was written for, the act of dedicated drawing of another’s work can greatly enrich the experience of looking at any piece by that artist, and can be of enormous use in approaching one’s own work.
