About
Work by David Bomberg is displayed alongside early paintings by Roy Oxlade (1929-2014) showing the influence of Bomberg on Oxlade’s early artistic development. Two of Oxlade’s works on display were painted during the 1950s when Oxlade was a student of Bomberg’s.
Roy Oxlade and David Bomberg shared a number of key ideas in their distinct artistic practices. They both believed that objects and places should be central to an artist’s approach, and shared a rejection of traditional academic teaching.
