Roxane Borujerdi's First Solo Show

The Hospital Club Philanthropic Department is pleased to present the first solo show of London based artist, Roxane Borujerdi, part of the club's Creatives In Residence Programme. The show, at the Covent Garden members club will be completely open to the public from Tuesday 27 October — Saturday 31 October. Roxane uses a variety of mixed mediums, predominantly performance art and video to explore concepts that include geometric volumes, the alphabet and her environment. Roxane has an innate ability to react spontaneously to her environment, working with people and materials to realise her visions while approaching her work with subtle humour. The Hospital Club show will offer the first comprehensive presentation of her work (her first solo show) as well as broadening the range of her current topics through collaborations with other artists, musicians and performers. It will address the issues of action, will look at current events, stereotyped imagery and daily life situations using site-specific contexts and a touch of burlesque. "Solid shapes delimitate new possible spaces through colours. Incongruous as the drawing and frail as the actions, they once again challenge the object's finiteness and preciousness by analysing it three-dimensionally for the first time. Performances as the natural adhesive, life transmutation into work and work redistributed into life. They are the first incipit for any flat action and, at the same time, the sources for most of the flat surfaces becoming solid shapes. In this sense, performances are the central nucleus of the work being closest to life in its straightforwardness, simplicity and immanent absurdity. The artist performs the different rules of making work so that work and life become closer one another."
