About

On Saturday 26th January we will be welcoming Rosy Greenlees and Nancy Honey back to Southampton for a talk on the 1993 Citybus Project. The event offers a chance to hear first hand how the innovative exhibition came about and the challenges associated with it.

The original Citybus Project saw poet, Dame Carol Ann Duffy, and photographer, Nancy Honey, spend time on Southampton buses creating work before it was then exhibited on board the Citybus network.

Rosy Greenlees was responsible for curating the original project, in her role as Public Art Officer at Southampton City Council. She is now Executive Director of the UK Craft Council and President of the World Craft Council. In 2017 she was awarded an OBE.

Nancy Honey is an established, London based documentary and portrait photographer who gained significant national attention for projects including 100 Leading Ladies, which was exhibited at Somerset House in 2014. A number of her portraits are in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery. Nancy Honey shot the Citybus Project on over 100 rolls of film on a Fuji medium format folding field camera.

The talk will be held from 2pm at the Stella Maris Hall on St Michael’s Square. Advance tickets are available for just £2 (plus booking fee) from eventbrite.
