'Roots' at Roots

Artists with a connection to Coventry were invited through an open call to respond conceptually to the idea of ‘roots', taking into consideration the gallery's values and vision for the city's creative network. The exhibition deals with notions of searching and longing in the work; longing to belong, longing for home, longing to understand the past. This is often acknowledged and confronted by the artists, through scientific investigation, personal meditation or ceremonial reverence. Structures are questioned as the artists examine physical integrity, artistic process, boundaries, impact and histories. Artists include: Jane Ball, Georgia Dee Rae Bowser, Bruce Fletcher, Jo Gane, Kathryn Hawkins, Rose Jennings, Min Kyung Kim, Emma O'Brien, Victoria Redgrave and Shiam Wilcox.
