BLAM is pleased to announce the exhibition "FOCUS", curated by Erin Przekop of Fiercely Curious. The exhibition is a mixture of contemporary photography, painting, mixed media and more.
About
Erin Przekop says "With the arrival of my child earlier this year, I learned a lot about how we develop and grow. In this show entitled, FOCUS, we'll be using the works of 20 artists to tell the story of the development of sight through the human eye.
Beginning to see in black and white only, we then develop the cones to see reds, yellows and later greens, blues and violets. The same can be said for depth perception where we can only see within one foot of our faces at birth. This development happens rapidly - colors being distinguished within about the first five months of life and depth perception within the first few years.
My goal in this show is to narrate the story of human eye sight where our visual development is told through how the works of these 20 artists are presented within the gallery space. Serving as a timeline, the left wall will represent birth with vision progressing as the artworks wrap around the gallery to the right wall suggesting full development. This will be communicated with artworks beginning in strong graphic black and white imagery and ending in subtler, more tonal work.
This is a show which includes ALL colors - quite thematic given our current political climate. We humans, are born with the capacity to see all colors and it is my hope that the inclusive nature of this show may spread beyond these gallery walls."

They believe in sharing the artists stories bringing you closer to the artists and their studios. They showcase their work online, at pop-up shows and through private studio visits.
