About
On October 6th, The Residence Gallery is delighted to present new collaborations and paintings from London based artists Robert Hawkins (New York) and Liam Ryan (Dublin). Running until October 30th, this extraordinary exhibition sees the pair unite their individual interests as painters, with sensational results.Robert, like a magician, can make a serious train crash look like fun. This self-described "pseudo-realist" has been featured in many major international art collections. He is re-nouned for his macabre sense of humour, expert knowledge of Art History and Popular Culture, which reflects playfully in his work.
In comparison, Liam employs a degree of automatism and disorder of pictorial language. He also flirts with Popular Culture, disruptively, to create work that he sees as transparently synthetic. He explains, "I treat visual language in a playful way and it's the music of the language which interests me." Liam received the Royal Dublin Society Taylor Prize and earned an MA (St. Martin's Byam Shaw) with a scholarship awarded from Lismore Castle Arts.
Private View will be held on October 6th
