About

Work by: Ben Cove, Hugh Mendes, Jenny Moore Koslowsky, Faye Peacock During these studio visits, we have encountered many exceptional artists. Here we have pleasure in presenting four of them. Faye Peacock's sound work has pathos and extreme sensitivity........she sat in a car and paid strangers £10 to tell her that they love her and make her feel like it was real. Not as easy as it sounds. Jenny Moore Koslowsky builds precarious structures which teeter and lean. They are partially site-specific, seeming to clutch the ceiling or walls with tiny insubstantial fixings. Their presence in the gallery accentuates the clean lines, straight edges and solid state of the room. Ben Cove has recently merged the disciplines of painting and sculpture by deconstructing the picture plane and extrapolating it across the wall. Paintings are connected by a frame on which objects are balanced. The subject has jumped out of the frame. Hugh Mendes uses obituaries to make permanent memorials in paint. Seductive glamorous objects once they have been rendered in oils, they work in opposition to the fragile impermanent newspaper documents they once were.
