riPoste (meaning reply or retort) is the first exhibition by POST — a collective of seven professional contemporary female artists who came together during Liverpool's European Capital of Culture 2008. riPoste sees the seven Liverpool based artists join together with seven female artists from Linz, Austria — Capital of Culture 2009. New work will open up critical debate regarding how the Capital of Culture has impacted upon the artists and their work and investigate what it means to be British or Austrian looking beyond our perceptions of British and Austrian cultures. Working with themes relating to identity, movement and journeys within the city, the artists, who work across a variety of media, will spend a period of time in each city, producing new work and developing international networks between Austria and the UK. The exhibition will tour to Linz in summer 2010.
