About

Art advisor Lisa Schiff exhibits UK-born, LA-based multidisciplinary conceptual artist Richelle Rich’s most recent body of work, Comeflor (a term used in South America to describe weak politicians), in her first-ever solo exhibition in New York, opening on June 7, 2023. Interested in the intersection of trauma, transcendence and the ways in which objects are magically contaminated by our stories, emotions and memories, Rich aims to capture images that give form to the stories for which we cannot find words. Rich’s exhibition at SFA Advisory includes photographs of deadly poisonous flowers, household dust on bone china plates and knives stolen from estranged family members, among other objects – that document her personal experience as an artist, activist, mother and wife within the wider political narrative of fear, unrest and social inequality. The artist’s photographic processes are as integral to the work as the objects themselves, subverting the formal visual languages of traditional painting, advertising and food photography. As a result, Rich’s still lifes are encoded with the artist’s own autobiographical mythology.
