About
Ricardo Sleiman
Feathers & Flesh
Ricardo’s first solo exhibition combines his digitally manipulated images of the human figure with his recent series of dead bird ink drawings, started during the first Covid lockdown.
While a connection between these two different styles may not be obvious at first, they both represent a strong theme running through Ricardo’s practice. The symbolism behind finding a dead bird can initially seem ominous and negative, but it can also represent a transitioning to something new, a transformation, a rebirth. Much like Ricardo's altering and reconstructing of the human figure, as a way of transforming the very identity of an individual, creating an entirely new being.
Ricardo is a London based artist of English and Lebanese descent. He has had work published in INSIDE artzine, Contains Art limited publication of Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’, and has exhibited in various galleries and unconventional spaces including recently The Turner Contemporary in Margate.
