About
A small selection of photographs taken of The Beatles performing at Caird Hall, Dundee on 20 October 1964, have gone on display as part of the Revealing Characters exhibition - an exhibition looking at the enduring attraction of the portrait. The images show the Fab Four in the early days of their meteoric rise to fame, performing in front of an excited crowd. The photographs represent a snapshot at the height of ‘Beatlemania’ – a phrase first conceived in Dundee, by promotor Andi Lothian, who witnessed fans’ frenzy at the Caird Hall.
Taken by photographer Winne Forbes-Cochrane, these pictures are part of 33 photographs that were put up for auction earlier this year, and successfully secured for the City’s collection. The gig was the 8th date of their 1964 British tour, and the second of three consecutive nights in Scotland.
FREE. No need to book, just drop in!
