From the perspectives of practising artists, gallerists, activists and academics this symposium will trace the parameters of our new world values. Who determines value? What value does art have? What is value in the art world?
About
Alongside growing consumer culture, funding cuts and ever-increasing technological possibility, are our perceptions of value in the art world also shifting? We invite you to explore this topic with a host of insightful guest speakers within the inspiring context of the final degree show at Wimbledon College of Art (University of the Arts London). From dynamic presentations to lively workshops, the topic of value will be thoroughly interrogated, analysed and discussed. With such a diverse group of speakers, will our understanding of value reformulate and uncover possible new value systems for the future?

Closed access / open access:
-how is value affected by the location/curation of an artwork?
-who is “the public” and who determines the value of “public art”?
-who is art for?
Physical/immaterial:
-what is the value of a network or collaboration: is the work of a “sole genius” more or less valuable than a collective effort?
-how has the proliferation of the digital affected our perception of value?
-is innovation valued more highly than sustainability?
