New work by seven emerging artists who came together as a result of the national Artist Teacher Scheme.
About
This exhibition supports a second year module in the Oxford Brookes University Artist Teacher Scheme MA in Education programme in which participants are encouraged to confront the barriers to developing their own practice; the title, Resistant Forces, reflects this challenge.
The emerging artists come from diverse backgrounds and professional educational settings and this diversity is reflected in the exhibited works. Audience feedback is encouraged and integral to the exhibition, and it will play an important role in action research and reflection for each artist as they explore their new practice.
Originally established in 1999, the Artist Teacher Scheme is an expanding national programme of continuing professional development courses devised by partnerships between galleries or museums and university schools of fine art, design and/or education to enable teachers to regain or develop their personal practice as artists in the context of the contemporary visual arts.
The exhibiting artists are: John Blythe, Aileen Creegan, Joanna Kidner, Claudia Panatti, Louise Pike, Catalina Renjifo and Helen Willson.
