Sound artist Haeyoung Kim presents 8-bit and experimental sound works that incorporate audience participation.
About
For her first Roulette residency performance of the spring season, digital artist Haeyoung Kim presents Moori, an interactive collaborative environment where users participate in a real‑time narrative. Using mobile technologies and network systems, members express their ideas through instant messaging and sketches using their personal devices. Through the Moori system, audience participation is visualized and reproduced aurally. As a result, Moori allows users to become anonymous authors of an interactive storytelling experience and a unique, dynamic and algorithmic audio/visual performance.
With a background in classical piano, digital artist and interaction designer Haeyoung Kim explores the texture of sounds in electronic music. Her work focuses on immersive experience in sound, human interaction, and perception. Under the name Bubblyfish, Kim explores the territory of sounds, live performance and interactive media by integrating audience participation into her performances. Her work has been presented in various museums, clubs, festivals, and galleries including The American Museum of the Moving Image, MoMA PS1, Mutek, File Festival, Lincoln Center Walter Reed Theater, and Kunsthalle Wien.
Newfoundland native Mary Jane Gibson has performed all over Canada, the UK, and the United States. In New York, she has created work with the Woodshed Collective, Tommy Smith, and Reggie Watts, amongst others. She is a co-founder of The Fabulists, a neo-vaudevillian variety group. 1
