A solo show of new work by REQ.
Req transcends his graffiti background offering censored images of his muse.
In this new work Req has concentrated solely on making sensitive nude and semi nude images of his Muse 'HH' which are then presented in glazed box frames with layers of 'Graffiti mess' obscuring the beautiful images.
'I have transcended my graffiti roots but art fans have only recently got into graff as an art form. I've been making images of muses for 30 years and would much rather present images of her but people generally don't know how to appreciate this kind of art. So I've hidden her behind all my old aliases and crew names waiting for the time that the buyers are curious enough to scrape the graff away and discover the depth and power of 'artist and muse' motivated art.'
It is literally true that Req encourages the buyer of his work to take some wire wool or sandpaper and scrape away his history of graffiti and in so doing, set their own taste of censorship concerning the nude in contemporary art.
