International artists Camila Cavalcante and Jenna Corcoran present ‘re:place’ an exhibition exploring the essence of place as they discover and make connections to their new home in Edinburgh.
About
Two artists, living in Edinburgh, have come together to present the exhibition ‘re: place’ of work considering our place within Scotland as ex-patriots of our respective home countries, Brazil and Australia.
Camila Cavalcante’s work explores her connection with the Scottish landscape using the ocean as the element that unites different countries, cultures and people. Found Scottish sea glass overlap photographs of Brazilian beaches. The colour, patterns, textures, opacity and thickness of the sea glass shape and juxtapose Brazilian seascapes, creating artworks that bring Brazil to Scotland and Scotland to Brazil.
Jenna Corcoran's graphite drawings document lost objects on the streets of Edinburgh as she goes about her exploring her new home. The objects are displaced, but the intricately detailed surroundings suggest a sense of place.
