Thursday September 15th 2016, from 6pm to 9pm, the artists will be present.

René Groebli, Nudes

« I have always been fascinated by the feminine. The beauty of the forms, the aura, the sensuousness … »

Last fall, the gallery presented the series The Eye of Love  and The Magic of the Rail by René Groebli (born in 1927). It was the first exhibition in France of this great Swiss photographer whose career runs through the entire second half of the twentieth century. His personal work thus follows with curiosity and versatility the history of photography.

Nudes , issued this year by the Swiss publisher Sturm & Drang, reveals a magnificent study of the female body. Groebli has challenged the technical possibilities of the medium and explores overprint, distorting or using the grain of the silver film, in order to bring a timeless atmosphere around his models’ figures. Beyond a simple representation of nudity, the photographer capture lines and forms, light and shadows in compositions where the fascination for sensuality comes with an extended aesthetic research.

Martin Essl, Le Château Rouge

Le Château Rouge  is the first volume of a series of photographic essays conceived by the Austrian-born artist Martin Essl (he was born in 1982 and moved to Paris in 2012). Named after the Paris metro station, this work presents itself as a sensitive and urban fiction about the photographer’s daily life.

We had a huge coup de coeur  on this beautiful book where the artist transforms a ordinary reality through the filter of photography. Each photograph chosen by Martin Essl is a poem with acid colors and light that illuminates the details of the city, the body of a woman, a piece of sky or the front of a bus with a magical aura.
