Remembered / Imagined?
A new exhibition by artist Gail Mason at The Galleries Freshford
13th January-15th March 2025
“I feel better after looking at your paintings…!”
Multi award-winning painter/printmaker Gail Mason will be exhibiting new works as part of the ongoing series of paintings exploring the semi-abstract landscapes of her day-dreaming world.
Looking to nature to inspire and delight, Gail creates fictive environments and revels in colour which is used to set the emotional tone. Celebrating the spiritual power of open spaces and the cyclical nature of life, the concept of journey both physical and metaphorical is central to the work.
Taking colour for a dance rather than 'a line for a walk’, where speed and gesture combined with periods of reflection and careful editing result in paintings that allow the viewer a space for day-dreaming. Offering a sense of perspective, inviting reflection, and celebrating the restorative and hopeful aspects of our world.
Gail is an elected member of Bath Society of Artists and Somerset Printmakers and has been selected for the RWA,The Mall Galleries, RWSA, SWA, Bankside, Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Royal Academy amongst other prestigious exhibitions..
The Galleries at Freshford is a community built and managed organisation in a rural village. The shop stocks high quality sustainable products from local producers, and the cafe sells great coffee, renowned cheese muffins and creative salads amongst other delicious lunch choices.
