AboutREINHARD STANGL, born in Leipzig, studied painting at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Dresden from 1972 to 1977. He then worked as a freelance painter in East Berlin. In 1980 Reinhard Stangl moved to Berlin-Kreuzberg. In 1986 he received a working scholarship from the Senator for Cultural Affairs, Berlin. In 1989 he became co-founder and lecturer of the 1st Berlin Summer Academy, in 1990 he held a guest professorship at the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste, Berlin, and in 1995 a guest professorship at the Hochschule der Künste, Berlin. The jury for the award of the prize “Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe” proposed Reinhard Stangl (together with C. Jackob-Marks, H. Rolfes, H. Scheib) for a first prize.
