Wheeler's work draws on the language of display, sometimes pairing a sculpture with a potted plant, to affirm the importance of viewing the art object within the 'concrete' space it inhabits. Emphasising the materials' tactility, Wheeler juxtaposes hard-edged, abstract compositions with organic forms to create beautiful but bewildering objects.
Wheeler has recently graduated from Manchester School of Art
