The young German artist takes an interest in things from past times which remain significant. This is associated with the hope that these things continue to exist in her paintings and remain comprehensible when the circle of life has closed upon itself and outlasts her own generation.
The different characters in her recent works mirror the different aspects of our dependence on nature. Unique reflections of the past, the present, and the future are connected and crafted into paintings and sculptures. Wanda Stang describes the fundamental conditions and terms of being human and includes natural life cycles, recurring patterns, and symbols, as well as processes such as self-awareness, empathy, and tolerance.
The strong sensibility of the artist offers the visitor a wide range of themes such as life and death, childhood and age – all the different perceptions of life in general. Each work represents a stage of how – with growing up – the perception of life can change.
Stang’s paintings forever perambulate notions of self-awareness and sense of self:
“DREAMS AND DESIRES CHARACTERIZE THE HUMAN. EVERYONE HAS A DRIVING FORCE INSIDE. ONE HAS TO RECOGNIZE AND UNDERSTAND IT TO BE ABLE TO GO ONE’S OWN WAY”, THE ARTIST SAYS.
Furthermore, visionary ideas and the essence of Romanticism have exerted a strong impression on Wanda Stang. Through her original style of creating, the painter and sculptor succeeds in building a deep connection with the observer and with numerous cultures of the world as her themes are based on feelings and emotions shared by many people.
Wanda Stang is a German painter based in Berlin, Germany. She completed her studies in painting and textile design and graduated as Meisterschüler from the Kunsthochschule Weissensee in 2015.
