The worlds of film, gaming, theatre, design, art and technology are becoming increasingly converged, with interactive and immersive environments such as 360°, virtual reality, augmented reality, mobile apps, games and interactive web-based video bringing us closer to a seamless blending of physical and virtual worlds.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Gain insight into developing and writing non-linear and interactive narratives from acclaimed videogames writers Rhianna Pratchett (Tomb Raider, Heavenly Sword) and Jim Swallow (No Man’s Sky, Disney Infinity: Star Wars).
Rhianna Pratchett is an award-winning writer for games, comics, film and TV. She has wrestled the wild beasts of narrative on titles such as: Heavenly Sword, Mirror’s Edge, the entire Overlord series, Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Her work has received awards from the Writers’ Guild of America, the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain, DICE, SXSW, and a BAFTA nomination. In the world of comics, she’s worked for DC, Dark Horse and Marvel, and is currently writing film and TV projects with the Jim Henson Company, Film4 and O3 Productions. Like most writers, she likes hard liquor and soft cats.
James Swallow is a BAFTA nominated writer and author. His work in videogames includes developing characters, narratives, and scripts for high-profile titles such as Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Ghost Recon Wildlands, No Man’s Sky, Disney Infinity: Star Wars, Fable: The Journey, Killzone 2 and Enslaved: Odyssey To The West. He is the author of over forty books and four New York Times and Sunday Times bestsellers – including the hit thriller Nomad – a Scribe Award winner and an accomplished scriptwriter. As well as original material, he has written for several major intellectual properties, including Star Trek, 24, Doctor Who, Star Wars, Halo, 2000AD and many more. He lives and works in London.
