Hereford Magna Carta and The Forest Law were sealed by Henry III in 1217 leaving a lasting legacy on the landscape and way of life of the inhabitants of these rural areas.
Local artists give life to this through their vibrant interpretations.

About

Royal Forest of Dean artists, Doug Eaton, Ian Gorton, Miriam McClay and Graham Wilde, will be exhibiting paintings which reflect the impact of the Forest Charter on the local landscape. Hereford-based artist, Allen Fisher, reflects on the human impact through his abstract paintings inspired by William Blake's 'Newton'.

This exhibition launches a series of events throughout 2017 which mark the 800th anniversary of these two seminal documents. The programme includes exhibitions and talks at Hereford Cathedral, Hereford Archive and Record Centre (HARC) and Hereford Museum Service. Baroness Helena Kennedy has been invited by Hereford's Amnesty International and will be speaking on 'The Slow Journey on Women's Rights'.
