Willesden Gallery is proud to present Reduce Reuse Recycle – Art and Sustainability, a group exhibition featuring London based artists that explore sustainability in their creative process.
About
In light of the current climate emergency, the mixed media exhibition aims to highlight the possibility for artists to incorporate in their work the concept of reducing consumption, reusing and recycling existing materials. The show invites us to take a new perspective on the material world around us and support conservation of the natural environment.
Bringing together 23 practitioners, the exhibition showcases a range of work created with recycled materials including ceramics, clothing and discarded glass, and highlights the impact that consumption has on the climate.
Food waste has been converted into inks and dyes, found items and other disposed objects have been turned into paintings, sculpture and visual artwork. The transformed function and form of these reused and recycled materials in the creative process is also reflected in the evolving role of artists and creatives as activists in response to the climate crisis.
