About

In Spetember, Weston Park's Granary Art Gallery looks forward to the works of the notable figurative artist Kay Boyce. Kay has been selected amongst the Top Ten Living Artists' list, at no. 4 in 2004 and no. 8 in 2005. She has been a top published artist with Solomen and Whitehead — who published a selection of her works as limited edition prints - for many years which has taken her to a finalist for Best Published Artist not just once, but for four years. Well-known as an illustrator, her work has carried her through to major book publishers such as Hodder and Staughton, Wadsworth Romantics, Mills and Boon and Mandarin. Kay's career as an artist has flourished; her pastel and pencil drawings have become instantly recognisable, and her work has graced private collections for many years, and she is now firmly established as a leading figurative artist. She completed a project for RADA which included portraits of 23 famous actors and actresses with the final work being assessed and approved by Sir Richard Attenborough. With a record of exhibitions throughout the UK, Kay's works are now held in numerous collections throughout Europe and the USA. Her delicate use of pastels and love of antique clothes and fabrics lend a soft feminine quality to her work which appeals to men and women alike. Having trained in Ballet and contemporary dance (and now Salsa), it is this that has given her an insight into her subject and an aptitude for reproducing it, with her costumed figures having an outstanding dream-like quality. Kay herself describes her work as; “time consuming, intense, emotional, rewarding.
