January might bright the snow, in terms of weather, but at Millard & Lancaster it certainly brings the artist Chris Clements who will be exhibiting throughout the month at the St.Mary's Street, Shrewsbury gallery store.
Chris Clements is a classically trained realist who has spent over three years in Florence studying under the renowned portrait painter John Angel, after graduating in Fine Art in the UK. Unsurprisingly, the classical tradition has become imbued in his work in terms of figure studies, portraits and still life works which capture the subject with an astonishing level of detail. His work recalls the realist studies of Pietro Annigoni, the portrait painter who painted one of the most celebrated portraits of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II and, perhaps this is not surprising since Chris' own tutor, John Angel, was a pupil of Annigoni's.
The exhibition will include portrait studies, still life works and architectural studies.
