‘Tentative explorations into past and future selves / Texts from the universe’ Is a thread of preliminary work from a wider fabric of ideas where sculptural forms, objects, artifacts and documents map the lived, nuanced and paradoxical experience of gendered beings across time.

About

These formal qualities that reference the body also suggest a certain psychological state, as dichotomous elements exist in harmony and conflict. This collection of work is the start of an exploration into associations between land and body; maps and terrain of land that mirror our body’s cells and innards. Investigations into prehistory and the agricultural revolution infer that the land has been shaped, ordered, contained and regulated with boundaries and ownership which has in turn imposed the same conditions onto our bodies and selves, encouraging patriarchal practices and restricting bodily autonomy.
