REALITY DEPARTURE - Featuring: Angela Smith, Katrine Roberts & Louis Savage. In the second part launch of Lacey Contemporary, British painters Angela Smith, Katrine Roberts and Louis Savage are painting the impossible.
Hyper colour-forms and pulsing rhythms produce a visual register to the surface but marks are gestural and obscure; distorted figures, hybrid creatures and layers of fragmented information appear in a dreamlike state across the canvases.

The works in this show explore the interactions between physical and metaphysical boundaries; they often contain figurative elements but don’t aim to illustrate reality, rather they portray a fabrication of reality.
Personal experience, disguised feelings and the invisible interactions that make up the fabric of our daily lives are carefully considered and committed to canvas.
While the artists in this show produce an assortment of visual data there is a common thread holding the works together – Reality, whether abandoned, distorted or reinvented it is questioned and heightened to produce joyous, playful and thought provoking artworks, that once again herald the craftsmanship and excitement that surrounds British painters today.
