Curated with collector Roger Morris this exhibition explores themes around collecting including the pleasures of collecting, relationships between the special and the everyday, friendships of the journey and the galleries role in facilitating collecting.
Exhibitors include Ruth Ball, Halima Cassell, Carina Ciscato, Adam Frew, Walter Keeler, Chris Keenan, John Leach’s Muchelney Pottery, Jim Partridge, Petrel Furniture, Peter Howcroft, Lisa Kronenburg, Clement McAleer, Emma Rodgers, Kaori Tatebayashi, Ed Teasdale and James & Tilla Waters.
The work being exhibited will reflect my own taste and interests of ceramics sculpture and furniture but not be chosen too narrowly! There will be a section of work “borrowed back” in the form of pieces purchased from the Bluecoat Display Centre over the last thirty or so years; some will be from my own collection but we are also asking four or five of the Display Centre’s other major customers to lend items in order to show a wider range. The rest of the exhibition will, as usual, be available for purchase. All the items for sale will be from makers who are still active, but some will be very established names, some will be young makers who are still developing their practice, and some will be makers whose work I like but which has not been seen in the Display Centre before – Roger Morris
