About
This September we are joining the celebration of East and South East Asian (ESEA) culture and history and how those communities have helped shape the UK with a special display at our Museum Late. Drawing on the RCP’s museum, library and archive collections we reflect on examples from ESEA artists and authors over the centuries.
Among the items on display you will be able to:
Explore the beautiful watercolours in a later copy of an influential 16th century Chinese medical text - with both Chinese and English translations.
View a digitised version of a delicate Japanese scroll combining traditional Japanese representations of the body with a different style depicting the internal organs adapted from European models.
Discover the rare complete example of an 18th century clay statue by artist Chinese artist Chitqua.
An introduction to the items on display will be provided by our senior curator at 6pm and 7pm and our team will be on hand throughout the evening.
The wider museum will also be open late that evening including our Treasures Room, portrait collections, anatomical tables and Censors Room.
