Supporting emerging sculptors and showcasing current contemporary sculptural practice at the Royal British Society of Sculptors

On Wednesday, 8 October 2014, 6:30-8:30pm, the Royal British Society of Sculptors presents Sculpture Slam — an energetic series of 5 minute talks delivered relay-style by the 10 winners of the 2014 RBS Bursary Awards. This lively set of back-to-back talks will lend unique insight into their practice and to the work on display in the RBS Bursary Awards 2014 exhibition. Selected from 317 applicants for their outstanding talent and potential, these 10 awardees represent the best and brightest emerging contemporary sculptors: Samuel Adams, Neil Ayling, Gillian Duffy, Beatrice Haines, Marguerite Humeau, Emma Hunter, Virgile Ittah, Hollie Mackenzie, Ana Catarina Pereira and Gloria Zein. The spirit behind this diverse and exciting talk series is perhaps summarised best by Hannah Barry, Director and Curator of Hannah Barry Gallery: "The Royal British Society of Sculptors Annual Bursary Awards acknowledge the diverse challenge laid down to artists in this 21st Century: sculpture is one of the more difficult negotiations of progress one can choose to embark on in this world but here are ten artists who have the courage to make real in the world through sculpture (in all its broad applications) new means of seeing and being."
