Romance can be reasonably thought of as unfashionable, twee, embarrassing, clichéd, unrealistic, laughable, anti-erotic and unrealistic in today's irony soaked world. Rayzon Detra, will reverse over those thoughts and, while speeding away, will offer a wealth of new alternatives intended to make the exhibition visitors weak at the knees and gasping with an obscure desire to up their game. Flowers and chocolates will be flung in the ridiculous open fire as a new heightened form is put on show.
Michael Crowe's exhibition will take the form of a large scale postal survey asking a range of people their opinion of romance. This, alongside video, sculpture, text and printed matter, will investigate and create a new vision of contemporary romance, one which promotes advanced empathy, frisky humour, impossible gifts, life-long role play, juicy fantasy, electronic ritual, blushing feet and levitating hearts as standard.
