BOZOMAG is excited to announce, “Colors Flying”, a 2-person exhibition by Raymie Iadevaia & Bruna Massadas at BOZO Cresthaven.

About

In Raymie’s paintings, the glowing eyes of cats and tall shadow of trees guide me into a densely mysterious path. It’s always night. Trees might dance, shadows might move, gigantic flowers might try to eat me. Something is about to happen. I’m both thrilled and terrified to be here, in the middle of this journey. But the horizon signals there is so much more to see: a city in the distance, haunted houses, an abyss. My curiosity and delight are bigger than my fears. I want to keep moving.

— Bruna Massadas

When I encounter Bruna’s paintings, the birds sing and talk, the landscape beyond illuminated by the trill of beaked melodies. The birds are prismatic, their feathers light rays worn like armor. Protective shield and welcoming beacon that glows across time and space. Across distances and gulfs of knowing and unknowing. The song is piercingly familiar, yet strangely abstract. As I look and experience the paintings, I’m taken under their wing to see the swirling rhythmic lands and oceans…

It oscillates through cloudy skies and breaks upon the waves of deep waters. The song echoes, drifts, dampens, and lingers softly against rocky verticals and the peaks of volcanoes. The volcanoes are the unknown variable: I wonder, are they residues of action—frozen brushstrokes, or questioning dormancy? Are they biding their time for eruption? And if they do erupt will they be synchronized or follow the rhythm and flows of the song bird’s harmonies?
