RAMM about Town sees Exeter’s museum popping up on the High Street during May and June. Immerse yourself in the historic city and imagine what Exeter’s High Street of the future could look like.

About

Minecraft and LEGO®
Using museum objects, Minecraft, the University of Exeter Hidden Cities app, the RAMM Timetrail guides and LEGO® bricks, a team from the Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) and Art Work Exeter (AWE) will be chatting to visitors and exploring what they’d like to see in the High Street of the future.

People of all ages can get hands-on in our LEGO® workshops, where you can build and propose the future High Street of your imagination to share with us. Or why not bring your ideas to digital life in Minecraft? Our team will be on hand to guide you through the creative process and capture your ideas.

These daytime sessions will be accompanied by an archaeology day and speaker events over a four week period starting on 18 May and finishing on 11 June. The shop, located in the old Gap store on Exeter High Street, will be open from Wednesday to Saturday each week from 11am until 3pm.

RAMM about Town events
There will be opportunities to handle collections from the museum and to build with LEGO® bricks every day.

Step into four past versions of Exeter with Minecraft. Discover what life was like in Roman, Tudor and 18th century Exeter in our Minecraft maps. Immerse yourself in the city’s past with places, people and objects. Go inside a museum object, discover archaeological objects where they were used, and explore historic buildings.

The University of Exeter’s Steve Rippon is a landscape archaeologist with interests focused on the Roman and medieval periods. Join him, and our curator Tom Cadbury, for a day of discovery and fun, exploring Exeter’s past through RAMM’s local archaeology collection!
