About

SAVVY Contemporary and The Forest Creative Loft are organizing a research, exchange, and reflection residency under the name "Raining Season School". The program of this residency is part of the larger project “For The Phoenix To Find Its Forms In Us” initiated by the SAVVY Contemporary art institution around the question of reparation to contribute to the debate on restitution from 'a different positionality in the German context and (in particular) beyond. Advocating for greater inclusion of different perspectives and voices, and demanding other spaces where communities themselves can tell stories of objects, this project seeks to question and critically contemplate the role of European institutions and ethnological museums, reflect on power structures, asymmetries and colonial continuities within discourse. Additionally, For The Phoenix To Find Its Forms In Us wishes to complicate the current discourse by putting on the table the urgent questions of rehabilitation and reparation by interweaving the point of view of artists, activists, and committed communities with that of academics, researchers and institutions, and offer a platform for decentralized discussion capable of including voices and positions across geographies and different disciplinary perspectives.

“Raining Season School”, one of the laboratories of this long curated trajectory, designed and conceived by the team at The Forest Creative Loft will be oriented towards the mobilization of creative collective wills, the production and dissemination of knowledge that cancels out violence "sweet" from several centuries.
