S A Z I, East Indian of origin is based in London. Self taught as an artist, his background is in graphic design, but painting always has been his main vehicle. Over the years the artist has worked with and explored different media and styles. The forthcoming exhibition at Red Gate Gallery primarily focuses on his current paintings consisting of abstract forms and colour. Using influences both from that of art history and of his own cultural heritage, he has found his primary voice through colour. The tender yet violent brush work reoccurs in his paintings accompanied by the juxtaposition of solid dark shades of black with the loosened and fluid brush work of brighter and lighter colours such as seen in the reds and yellows.
