Quest, Alexander Macdonald-Buchanan’s journey from conception to completion of his first group of sculptural ceramics.
About
Alexander Macdonald-Buchanan’s title for the collection of works showing in One Canada Square is Quest, which reflects his journey from conception to completion of his first group of sculptural ceramics. Initially exhibited in the autumn of 2015 at the Inner Court of the Duke of Devonshire’s Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, this exhibition marks their London debut. Combining scale and subtlety, dynamism and reflection, among the works on show are a series entitled Energy, four spiralling towers of an intense matt blue; and five tall ribbed vessels in a range of pale hues, collectively titled Contemplation, which stand as high as the artist’s shoulder.
