Talbot Rice Gallery is proud to announce our new exhibitions by Qiu Zhijie (Beijing), Lara Favaretto (Torino) and Nira Pereg (Tel Aviv).
About
In his first solo exhibition in the UK, Qiu Zhijie occupies the whole of Talbot Rice Gallery’s historic Georgian Gallery with new series of ink-paintings and an atmospheric installation evoking an archaeological dig.
The White Gallery hosts Lara Favaretto's Momentary Monument - The Library, a monolithic bookcase displaying 2,488 unwanted books each containing a folded image from the artist’s archive. Visitors are invited to take away one of their choosing, thus dismantling the ‘monument’ and re-distributing its contents across the city.
In the upper gallery Nira Pereg’s multi-channel video installations are anchored in a documentary practice that both reveals and questions conflicting behavioural protocols that co-exist in spaces of geopolitical, religious, ideological and ethical significance.
