About

Patara gallery presents Qeu Meparishvilis' exhibition "I exist when you are here, where you never were I can never be"
Exhibition powered by Propaganda.network

In Gldani 8th district buildings of alike architectural design are standing. Buildings are almost identical, which for the locals make equal living spaces. In given environment humans are acting as partisans.
This is basic, natural instinct, to obtain what you were born without.
A person is making up own mythology and tries to give architecture alternate form.
Building own territory, with this simple act, accidentally bringing chaotic element to already existing order.
This is inaccurate, raw interference, instinctive attempt of self-affirmation, inertia to the full freedom, which brings humans to their natural origins.
It results in illegal territory, which at one hand is a symbol of urban collapse and on the other is manifestation of full freedom of locals/ unlimited freedom of will of the locals.
I want to take as a model my neighbours balcony and with repeating shapes to take different context to the gallery, with different visual significance. Artwork represents repetition of the interaction where interference of human imagination creates new territories. Which in the end is natural manifestation of freedom over the access of the space.

Qeu Meparishvili, born in 1995, is working and living in Tbilisi. Qeu studied at Tbilisi State University of Cinema but dropped out and resumed her studies at CCA - Center of Contemporary Art. After graduating CCA she had teamed up with artist Salome Dumbadze, and worked on Fashion Design and different art mediums. First collaborative art piece was made on theme of ecology. Their Solo exhibition, held in 2017 September "Project 3016" was curated by Nina Pataridze and included performance, text, video works.
Qeu Meparishvili's works are close to post-internet genre, she is experimenting with different materials: Besides working with Photo and video, Meparishvili works in installation and design. Her concepts revert over irony and sci-fi most of the time.
