On Thursday, October 22, 2020, Parsec opens its space in via del Porto 48/CD (Bologna) with the event Put yourself out there. Through the works of Beatriz Creel and Olivia Hernaïz the opening aims to investigate the game as one of the possible forms of reflection on art and reality.
About
Playing is acting freely and with absolute determination: everything can be created, everything can be possible. In a playful context it is possible to make mistakes and push boundaries, test limits and amplify possibilities, just as art does. The only condition is that the rules and structure are understood by all subjects in the field.
The conception of the event comes from the reading of the text The Babylon Lottery, contained within the collection 'Fictions' by Jorge Luis Borges.
In this context is inserted the work of Beatriz Creel that focuses on the idea that reality itself is a game. Being an artist, for Creel, is a gamble between different factors, like any other profession or aspect of life.
The work Art & My Career by Olivia Hernaïz highlights the complexity of being a woman in the art world. From the artist to the museum curator, participants are invited to play the role they have chosen by making decisions based on money, fame and happiness.
