About
Surface Gallery is pleased to announce Purpose and Position, a solo exhibition by Barnaby Wills.
Purpose and Position is a series of bold and colourful paintings and mixed media works that explore institutional status and purpose. The exhibition references ideas concerning our relationship with the world and the way in which we engage with our surroundings. The artist unveils and re-configures concepts relating to this theme by exploring objects and emblems revealed by a stimulating painting process. Wills uses interconnected shapes and sequences to hint at an urban landscape or natural world. Fusing an intuitive pattern-based aesthetic with representation, he investigates the human thirst for discovery and adventure, while exploring avenues for creative interaction.
Purpose and Position opens in the Project Space in conjunction with Bettina Fung’s Imprints of Passing Time in the Main Gallery. As always, there will be a donations bar with ales from local brewery, Springhead.
Free Entry: Everyone Welcome
