Publication launch: folio, issue 1

About

folio issue 1 is guest edited by Francesca Banchelli and contributing artists are Edward Salem, Yunji Park, Annabel Banks, Chloë à Ëœstmo and Emiliano Zelada. folio has commissioned designer Paul Bailey to explore ways of reinventing the physicality of printed material. He will create a new work from multiple copies of previous issue zero, which will be exhibited at Banner Repeater during the launch. There will also be a selection of independent publications and artists' books by Istanbul based collective Bandrolsüz (bandrolsuz.org) as well as other UK based publications. folio is edited and designed by Merve Kaptan and Charlie Coffey and operates as an exhibition space on paper, presenting the work of several artists per issue. The magazine is particularly keen to offer a platform for three-dimensional, time-based and de-materialised work to be realised on the flat page. Selected either by open submission or invitation, artists respond to the printed format and participate in a collaborative editorial process. www.magazine-folio.com
