About

PROTECT & SURVIVE is an illustrated fictional story, set inside a nuclear bunker. It is an installation, harnessing mixed media to let its story unfold via a combination of illustrated ‘moments' in the form of a giant narrative diagram, audio fragments, sculptural dioramas and performance. It is, essentially a live graphic novel, moving the perceived medium of comics forward and pushing the boundaries of narrative art. Viewers will be able to walk into the ‘set' of the story and in essence experience its theatre directly and freely, without forced direction. The exhibition space itself is in a surviving WW2 underground bunker situated behind The Print House in Dalston, London. Untouched for over 60 years and owned by the company Bootstrap, the bunker remains in its original state and features 5 separate cavernous rooms. The project has been created by Juliet Sugg in collaboration with Kunsthaus Curators. This exhibition is not suitable for children.
