ATMOSPHERE (IMPLOSION) + THE WINTER NIGHTS SOCIALISATION PROJECT

About

PROPOSAL FOR ATMOSPHERE (IMPLOSION) is an installation that explores self-representation in light of today's growing ‘therapy culture' or culture of ‘emotionalism'. It brings together the therapy setting itself and the effects of lighting on the psyche whilst substituting Rorschach's inkblots with words/voice. + The show also kicks off with the first of a series of one-night events called THE WINTER NIGHTS SOCIALISATION PROJECT where invited performers are asked to take the confessional format of a specific song as a starting point for interpretation…we begin with Henry Rollins' song ‘Low Self Esteem' and a confessional booth. Artist performers include: Phil Owen, Al Cameron, Conran & Haimes, Sam Playford Greenwell, Amy Mason and Aaron Sewards. = A Conversation #1 will take place later on in the year as a round-table discussion on issues of our increased culture of therapy. Speakers include a clinical psychologist, a practicing Buddhist, art therapist and artists.
