About
"Hot bodies, feathers and action men."Sounds like a typical night out?
Well there's nothing typical about the way artist Charlie Pi uses these!
Painted reliefs and constructs of found materials; Charlie P!'s work relies on the twin muses of serendipity and synchronicity. The finding and bringing together of beautiful or meaningful objects and images are at the heart of this astounding body of work. Vast collections from photographs to bread-boards are an intrinsic part of the artist's inspiration as well as material. Often it is the finding of a new image or object that enables him to make sense of what he already possesses.
The underlying concepts and driving forces for Charlie P!'s work are taken from various mythologies such as Greek and Nordic. His large scale and beautifully executed pieces are of an iconic nature with a distinctive Baroque feel. Whilst his work echoes the distant past it is at the same time contemporary and cutting edge
